There is an ongoing, increasing and predominantly silent crisis in the sexual health and well-being of men. Due to lack of awareness, poor health education, and lifestyle demands in their work and personal lives, men’s health and well-being are deteriorating steadily. Good health is vital for a happy and full life. But men might not look after themselves as well as they could. For example, women aged between 25 and 34 are twice as likely to visit a doctor than men of the same age. Yet, men do not live as long and have more health risks than women, so it is crucial that men know more about looking after their health.
Plus, topic of male sexual health is still a taboo in our society. The awareness, knowledge and conversations about it either don’t exist, or still rotate around many myths and dogmas. Hence many male centered sexual diseases and relationship problems arising out of it, remain unresolved and untreated.
Many men suffer from reproductive problems like impotency, male infertility, ejaculation problems etc and because of the stigma associated with these problems and the ideology that ” these problems are a sign of Man’s weakness” , most of the men do not come out to seek treatment and most of them who do seek it, usually end up going to quacks or not licensed or trained practitioners. Eventually they do not get treated even after spending loads of money on unnecessary tests and ineffective non evidence based treatments which leads to frustration and depression amongst these men. Relationships become sour, marriages get broken, life becomes difficult and so many men even attempt suicides.
In today’s digitalised world, more and more women are seeking higher education, working in multi national companies and demanding equal rights in society unlike a few years back. They can now ask their partners to seek treatment of their reproductive problems so that they can have a healthy sexual life which is important for a loving relationship.
Keeping these realities in mind IASH was founded as a one stop solution for betterment of MALE SEXUAL HEALTH containing all facilities under one roof. This makes us a one of kind health institute where no aspect of male sexual health remains untouched.
To address this issue, Institute of Andrology and Sexual Health (IASH) was founded as a venture of Bhandari Hospital and Research Center, Jaipur to focus on male health, particularly relating to the problems of the male reproductive system that are unique to men including male infertility.
