Laser is a short form of Light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation. Laser therapy is a very effective physical therapy method, used in many areas of medicine, including obstetrics and gynaecology, andrology and urology.
Like many current medications available to manage ED, Laser Therapy works by opening vascular passages to allow more blood to flow into the penis, and by blocking the PDE5 enzyme, which restricts the flow of blood out of the penis, leading to longer and stronger erections.
By using the infrared wavelength, High Power Laser Therapy delivers billions of photons to tissue in the penis, resulting in the increased production of nitric oxide (NO). The increased NO production acts as a vasodilator, opening up arteries to increase blood flow to the penis leading to an erection.
When laser absorbed by a chromophore, laser light cause oxygenation, biostimulation and microvascularisation which results in pain relief and promotes growth and repair of body cells.
It is an out-patient procedure and requires twice a week treatment. For satisfactory result, around 15 sessions are required. One treatment session requires only 10-15 minutes.
It’s completely safe procedure. There is no side effects of LASER treatment. Patient may feel slight localized warmth during treatment.
